Two-Day Training on Emotional Intelligence Empowers School Staff

A two-day transformative training program on emotional intelligence titled "My Emotions Matter" was successfully held on the 5th and 6th of June 2025 at Dad’s Pride, Guranse. The training aimed to enhance the emotional intelligence skills of school staff, enabling them to understand, manage, and express emotions effectively in both personal and professional spheres.

Organized with the objective of promoting emotional well-being and workplace harmony, the training brought together 52 participants, including teachers and administrative staff. The initiative was rooted in the belief that emotional intelligence is essential for building positive relationships, ensuring healthy communication, and fostering productivity in educational settings.

The sessions were skillfully facilitated by Mr. Sagar Satyal and Ms. Manila Deshar, whose dynamic approach created a safe, inclusive, and interactive environment. Through a balanced mix of theory and practical application, they guided participants in exploring key components of emotional intelligence such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and mindful communication.

Over the two days, participants actively engaged in ice-breaking activities, role plays, group discussions, and reflective exercises. These sessions helped them identify emotional triggers, practice constructive responses, and build empathetic listening skills — all crucial for managing classroom dynamics and administrative interactions. A key highlight was the exploration of real-life emotional challenges faced by educators, which led to honest conversations and collective learning.

The training also included guided reflection sessions, allowing participants to internalize their experiences and share personal insights. Many found this aspect particularly therapeutic, as it fostered vulnerability and emotional openness among peers. Participants acknowledged how past emotional reactions had led to misunderstandings and expressed confidence in applying the newly learned tools to future situations.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Teachers appreciated the relevance of the training in enhancing classroom management and student relationships, while administrative staff valued its emphasis on teamwork and compassionate communication. The training also ignited important discussions around mental well-being and emotional support within the school community.

In conclusion, the "My Emotions Matter" training served as a timely and impactful initiative that laid a strong foundation for cultivating an emotionally intelligent and empathetic school environment. The tools and insights gained are expected to contribute significantly to both personal growth and professional effectiveness, ultimately benefiting the broader educational community.
