In celebration of the 60th Children's Day, Kopila Valley School organized a Mithila Art Workshop on 13th September, which brought together students from 16 different schools, offering them a platform to explore and showcase their creativity through the traditional art form of Mithila painting. This art form, rooted in the rich cultural heritage of Nepal, provided the perfect medium for students to express their artistic talent while learning about their cultural identity.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Suraj Lamgade who guided the participants through the intricacies of this unique style of painting. He shared the historical significance of Mithila art and demonstrated various techniques, including the use of natural dyes, intricate line work, and symbolic representations that are characteristic of the art form. His expertise and engaging teaching style kept the students captivated and inspired throughout the session.
The students eagerly embraced the opportunity to learn and create, producing a variety of artworks that reflected both their individual creativity and a deep appreciation for the traditional methods of Mithila art. The workshop space buzzed with excitement as students meticulously worked on their pieces, experimenting with colors, shapes, and cultural motifs.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the best artworks were selected based on creativity, technique, and cultural representation. Subekshya from St. Mary's School and Raman from Siddhartha Paathshala were recognized for their exceptional talent. Their artworks stood out for their technical excellence and innovative approach to the traditional style. As a token of appreciation, each received a cash prize of NPR 2500, along with certificates of appreciation, presented by the School Director in a special ceremony.
The Mithila Art Workshop was more than just an artistic exercise; it was an opportunity for students to connect with their cultural roots while fostering their creative abilities. The event successfully highlighted the importance of incorporating cultural education into the school curriculum, encouraging students to take pride in their heritage while developing their artistic skills.
The success of this workshop marks another milestone in Kopila Valley School's commitment to nurturing holistic education that not only emphasizes academic achievement but also promotes cultural awareness and artistic development among young learners. The event was met with positive feedback from students, teachers, and parents alike, ensuring that similar cultural workshops will be an integral part of future celebrations at the school.
