The Confederation of Nepalese Industries Women Leadership Forum hosted the ‘Women Leadership Summit 2023’ from January 13 to 15, 2023. The three-day summit focused on enabling and propagating women’s leadership in diverse areas on local, national, regional, and international levels. The summit also aimed to understand and address the impacts of Covid-19 particularly on women.
The WLS23 was built on the core themes of Women in Leadership, Women and Economics, and Women as Agents of Social Change. The Women’s Leadership Summit was the first-ever women’s meet from CNI that aimed to bring recognized women leaders and experts across the globe on a single platform to create meaningful discussions and deliberations that culminated into a summit declaration that was presented to the head of state, relevant government bodies, and the United Nations.
WLS23 was attended by transformative and influential women leaders and changemakers, policy makers, enabling experts, and organization representatives in the fields of policy, politics, economics, entrepreneurship, arts, sports, cinema, environment and sustainability, and social activism.
The declaration issued on the last day of the conference was transferred to the Government of Nepal. Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Dr. Toy Narayan Gyawali, National Planning Commission Joint Secretary Baburam Suvedi, was the chief guest on occasion.
Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Gyawali said that the time and suggestions made by the conference were important for women empowerment. In the coming days, the government would address the Trust Confederation in a policy manner to discuss the serious debate, discussion, and debate on women's contribution to the economy, and women as agents of change.
The conference was attended by a number of people, including established, transformative, and influential personalities from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Germany, and other countries.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal chaired the meeting and handed Maggie Doyne with Inspiring Woman of the Year 2023 Award.
