Kopila Valley School: The Student Council Oath-Taking Ceremony was conducted from 9 am to 10 am at the School Cafeteria on November 7. The ceremony went smoothly as the newly elected School President Kishor Neupane, Vice-President Jagat Singh, Sports Captain Tilak Singh, and Sports Vice-Captain Asmita Singh were called on the stage and took their oaths. They promised to abide by all the responsibilities and fulfil them to the best of their abilities, respecting and abiding by all the norms and values of the school, for their personal growth and for the betterment of the school.
During the ceremony, Aachal Dutt, one of the English teachers, recited a poem entitled ‘Change’. In her poem, she said that change will only start with “you”. Principal Rajan Karki cited examples of the best leaders in world history, such as Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, and Gautam Buddha, who changed themselves first and then inspired others. He further added, “There are good leaders as well as bad leaders, but our responsibility is to be a good leader”. Newly elected President Kishor Neupane renewed his campaign promises. He said to the school, “ I have not forgotten my words before the election. We will work together to meet our goals. Be comfortable sharing your problems with the Student Council; the door is always open for all of you.”
The Election Committee played a huge role in making the election possible. Committee Members Durga Kandel, Aachal Dutt, Yogesh Chettri and Hikmat Bhandari were honoured to put tika and Khada to the newly elected student council members. School Coordinator Lilaram Acharya distributed a position t-shirt, a badge, and a certificate to the elected student leaders.
There were three cultural dance performances since the ceremony coincided with Fun Friday. The day was very special for all the Kopila family since it was also the birthday of a great mom, Maggie Doyne. So, all of the members of the school remembered her smiley face and wished her many, many happy returns of the day.
